New York Rangers Hockey Jersey, The American Hockey League Hall of Fame opened in 2006 and currently has 26 honoured members. In 2010, Marcel Paille was posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Paille is the all-time leader amongst goaltenders for the most regular season games played at 765. Nearly forty years after Marcel played his game of professional hockey, Paille still owns a total of five AHL records. Along with the most career games played, he has also played more playoff games by a goalie, has won the most playoff games as a goalie, has the longest playoff shutout streak and has played the most minutes in AHL playoff hockey.
Marcel was a five time AHL all-star and won the Harry Holmes Award on two occasions as the goalie with the fewest goals against. Paille backstopped four Calder Cup champions during his days in the AHL.
Paille did have his time in the National Hockey League, as well. His first NHL season was 1957-58 with the New York Rangers. He played sparingly with the Rangers for several seasons, splitting time between the AHL and NHL. In 1964-65, he played 39 games for the Rangers. Following that season, he never played an NHL game again.
Eight years after his final game in the NHL, Paille had one more chance to play major league hockey. In 1972-73, he was part of goaltending tandem, along with Bernie Parent, for the World Hockey Association\'s Philadelphia Blazers. Parent played most of the games with Marcel appearing in just 15. The Blazers were to start the season as the Miami Screaming Eagles but were moved to Philadelphia before a game was played. The team lasted just one season in Philly, moving to Vancouver for the 1973-74 season.
Bernie Parent New York Rangers Hockey Jersey went back to the NHL, the Philadelphia Flyers and the Stanley Cup. Paille went back to the American Hockey League where he played one last season with the Richmond Robins.
Marcel Paille died of cancer in 2002. Despite his achievements in the AHL, he is probably better known by his interesting addition to the hockey card collecting world. Marcel Paille was New York Rangers Hockey Jersey included in just one set of NHL hockey cards. His rookie card is included in the 1964-65 Topps Tall Boys series. Because the card was short printed, it is now in quite short supply. The card is valued at $250 and is only exceeded in value by names like Bobby Hull, Gordie Howe, Tim Horton and Stan Mikita.
